Artemis III: The Mission to Land the First Woman and the First Person of Color on the Moon
Artemis III: The Third Mission in NASA's Artemis Program
The Artemis III mission is the third mission in NASA's Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon by 2024. The mission will be the first to land a woman and the first person of color on the Moon.
The Crew of Artemis III
The crew of Artemis III will ride to lunar orbit aboard the Orion spacecraft. Orion will then dock with the Starship human landing system, which will take the crew to the Moon's surface.
The European Service Module
The European Service Module (ESM) will power the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis III mission. The ESM is being built by the European Space Agency (ESA). It will provide propulsion, power, and life support for the crew.
The Artemis I Mission
The Artemis I mission is the first integrated flight test of NASA's deep space exploration systems. The mission will launch the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket into orbit around the Moon. The SLS is the most powerful rocket ever built.
The Artemis II Mission
The Artemis II mission will be the first crewed flight of the Orion spacecraft and the SLS rocket. The mission will launch four astronauts into orbit around the Moon. The crew will spend several days in orbit, testing the spacecraft and its systems.
The Artemis III Mission
The Artemis III mission will be the first to land humans on the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The mission will land two astronauts on the Moon's surface. The astronauts will spend several days on the Moon, conducting scientific experiments and collecting samples.
The Artemis Program
The Artemis program is NASA's plan to return humans to the Moon by 2024. The program is also designed to lay the foundation for future human exploration of Mars. The Artemis program is a complex and ambitious undertaking, but it is also a necessary one. If we are to continue to explore space, we must first return to the Moon.
