Early Life and Career

Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Jr. was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After graduating from the University of Delaware and Syracuse University, he began his political career by serving on the New Castle County Council from 1970 to 1972.

In 1972, Biden was elected to the U.S. Senate, becoming one of the youngest senators in history. He served for 36 years, representing the state of Delaware.
